just got done chillin with wes. we meet every monday for discipleship/accountability stuff, and it's always good fun. even though he's a staff dude, i almost think of him as one of us (students), but in a good way. anyways, i have a little more than an hour to prepare for bible study tonight, and hopefully get working on my support letters for argentina. i gotta raise $4,700. craziness, huh? but if i'm to go, then i trust that God will provide somehow, though i have no clue where it's going to come from. one roof is tonight as well. all the christian fellowship groups get together for an evening of worship, sharing and prayer. i'm looking forward to that.
oh dude, i haven't talked about the semiformal yet, have i? ok, so saturday, we guys of duke crusade planned, prepared and pulled off the first [bi?]annual cru semiformal. man, i had way too much fun. i don't think i've been to a [semi]formal since prom, so there was a lot of pent up dancing energy in me; and by the looks of it, i wasn't the only guy affected in this manner. we came back from big break somewhat determined to better the male/female relationships in cru, and i think we took a huge step forward saturday night. from what i hear, it was a huge success in everyone's opinion. even more fun times were had before the dance at yancey's, a jazz club/restuarant. about 30 of us ate dinner there before the semi, and they had live entertainment (which was pretty good) on top of some deelish food. so yeh, saturday was good.
for whatever reason, i got to thinking about home on saturday, and i started missing it. but not in the homesick, i miss my family/friends/the beach/weather kind of way. i just started thinking about what my family was doing that saturday morning as i was doing some work, and what it's like when i'm there. my pops reading the newspaper, my mom drinking coffee at the table, me eating breakfast, my sisters off at some random friends' house, one cat sleeping next to the french doors and the other trying to sit on the newspaper as my pops reads it, the dog chillin' in the kitchen with the back door open and a light breeze flowing through, the radio playing npr (most likely 'car talk' or 'whadda ya know?'), nice sunny 70 degree weather outside. just your run of the mill perfect saturday morning. and i thought about how much i'd like to be at home on saturday mornings like that, but i don't really have a whole lot more of those left. one more summer, half of one really, and then my senior year, after which i graduate, and after that saturday mornings with the rents will be sporadic at best. it's kinda sad to think about, but it makes me realize how special the time i have with them now is, and i need to take advantage of it more.
so i'll leave you with that while i get some work done, hehe. happy trails! God bless.
