just because

it's been so long since i last posted (just over a month, to be not-so-exact) i think i should post something just for the sake of doing it, so i don't fall out of practice. i have to say i've been slightly disappointed at everyone else's posting rates since summer started in the northern hemisphere and winter down here. except for reb, who has seen it fit to add posting on her xanga to her repertoire of girlfriend skills, which i greatly appreciate. thanks much babe.

i can't say i blame anyone though, since most folks are probably off doing summer activities rather than spending all their time procrastinating online like they do during the school year. there's not really much to procrastinate on since it's summertime, so i guess a dropoff in post rates is to be expected. that doesn't mean i'm happy about it though.

no politics or comments on the current, sad state of the world are on the docket for the time being. part of why i've been "away" so long was to take a break from everything that's going down right now. it wore me down just reading about it, and you can only take so much before you realize how hopeless a situation we are all in without God. it's more than a little depressing, so i decided to focus my energies in other areas for a while.

the summer project kids have also been here for just over a month, so planning and working on all our outreach activities with them has been a huge drain on my time, but a good one. i don't think i've ever been so happy to see american men in my life as i was to see the six doods on this year's project walk through customs that first day. it's something that's hard to explain and i don't expect anyone to completely understand unless they too have spent a significant amount of time as the only male or female on a team in a foreign culture. i'm sure there's a reason things worked out this way, and i'll let you know what it is once i figure that out. for the time being, i'll just say it's been nice to have daily testosterone sessions for the past few weeks. i gotta live it up for another week though, cuz they'll be leaving after that.

i will leave with a question i was pondering in the shower a few days ago. do people with crazy long facial hair (like pai mei) use shampoo to wash that as well? i thought of this as i was (sorta) growing out my facial hair for a little over a month, but i was repeatedly informed i should do away with that experiment, so i caved in the end. anyway, i'm just curious. if you have any answers/experience, feel free to inform me.
