a free form entry
sorta. i'm doing this because i feel like i need to post something pseudo related to the whole salta trip (and whatever else happens to pop out) before i can a) dive in and explain things with more detail or b) move on with my life in whatever direction my wandering mind takes me. we can even take an informal poll among all three or four of you who read this in my comments section on which option you think is more likely. anyway, on to the randomness...
....bill miller (my team leader) is one of the coolest men of God i've ever met, and kinda crazy too (like me, lots of fun)....i washed my clothes by hand for the very first time in my life. it wasn't difficult, but i don't plan on making a habit out of it, simply because i have better things to do with my time....fox heads look pretty cool hanging from the rearview mirror, just don't put it on too long a string or it might hit you in the face when you take a curve at high speeds....i still can't believe my sister is actually serious about getting married next may. she & my parents met with the wedding planner last saturday!!!....after three weeks of using the same towel, it started smelling like my dog (not a good thing)....i had more fun with an axe (technically it was a hatchet, but whatever) than i thought possible....it's amazing to see how powerfully God can work in peoples' lives through simple and seemingly outdated tools, such as the Jesus film (made like 30 years ago by crusade)....my team (los pumas) was the only hardcore group, sleeping in tents and enduring sub-freezing weather most nights....i discovered that goat meat really does taste as good as i remember it being on the indian reservation oh, so many years ago....we ended the trip with one fox head and three tails (one of which i still have with me, awesome!)....despite the smell of my towel, i continued to use it....you can add "i still have a hangover" to the list of phrases i never expected to hear from my grandma (she was in vegas, but still!)....just so you don't freak out, all the fox limbs we ended up with were from roadkill (at least i think that's how they died)....the people in and around cachi (where my team was based) are quite friendly overall. one old man who lives out in the sticks by himself gave me a goat horn after we gave him some clothes....apparently my facial hair (which doesn't grow in thick, nor evenly) makes me look like i'm 28? go figure (not that it really bothers me)....i woulda had my own fox head but the second one we found still had organs and maggots inside (doh!)....i really like the outdoors and the opportunity to enjoy God's creation in a pure environment (re: far away from any high population zones)....
well, that's enough for now. one more thing i will say (which i have been telling pretty much everyone who's asked) is that the biggest thing God taught me on that trip (at least that i've realized so far) is not to be cynical about peoples' decisions for Christ. i often found myself wondering if a person really knew what it meant for their life to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior (something i was blessed to witness numerous times during our three weeks in cachi). but as i thought about it, i realized that i'm in absolutely no position to doubt what the Holy Spirit may be doing in anyone's life. i have to (and should) take their decision at face value, and trust that God is working in their heart to bring the complete understanding that i couldn't even begin to explain if i tried. it was a good lesson for me to learn, and hopefully it'll stick with me for a long time. that's about it for now, i need to stop staying up so late and get back on a normal schedule. m'out like a fat kid in dodgeball.
